1 - Journey through the Cosmos

Associated contents

  • Space Race -> Orbit (immersive video)

Procedure

This exercise is ideal for the beginning of a sessions to introduce immersive projection technologies and warm up oculomotor training.
  • Focus and point:

    • The participants are asked to keep their eyes focused on the screen and use a finger to point at the exact location where the shooting stars appear.

  • Time limits and scoring:

    • Introduce time limits for spotting each shooting star or other objects in the video. Create a scoring system to motivate participants to focus and improve their visual tracking skills.

  • Breathing exercises:

    • Incorporate breathing exercises or mindfulness techniques at the beginning or end of the activity to enhance relaxation and overall therapeutic benefits.

  • Customizable content:

    • Provide options for therapists to customize the content based on their clients' interests and preferences.

  • Feedback and progress tracking:

    • Implement a feedback mechanism that provides real-time feedback to participants on their performance. Additionally, consider tracking their progress over multiple sessions to measure improvements.

  • Group interaction:

    • If applicable, design the exercise to allow for group participation, encouraging participants to discuss their experiences and observations afterward. This fosters a sense of community and support within the therapy session.

  • Accessibility considerations:

    • Ensure the exercise is accessible to individuals with visual impairments or other disabilities by offering alternative ways to participate, such as auditory cues or tactile feedback.

  • Instead of merely pointing out shooting stars, develop a narrative or story around the immersive video. For example, participants could be on a mission to explore distant galaxies, and they need to track shooting stars as navigational markers. This adds context and purpose to the activity.

  • While the activity is meant for oculomotor training and relaxation, consider adding educational elements related to space, such as brief explanations about shooting stars, orbital mechanics, or celestial bodies. This can make the experience more informative and intriguing.

  • To make the exercise suitable for participants of different skill levels, consider implementing gradual visual complexity. Start with easy-to-spot objects like shooting stars, and gradually progress to more challenging elements, such as hidden asteroids or satellites. for example:

    • Future Lighthouse (immersive video)

    • Space Dream (immersive video)

Benefits
