Underwater -> Aquarium (immersive video)
General Instructions:
The therapist names marine species as they appear in the video. The therapist also provides brief and interesting facts about each species as they appear in the video. This will not only stimulate cognitive engagement but also enhance the educational value of the exercise.
The participants take turns standing up and touching the mentioned elements in the projection area. Meanwhile, the other participants should verbally communicate directions to the main participant (up, down, left, right).
Monitoring:
The therapist will start by naming elements which appear on the participants' side with better vision, then will progressively move to the other side.
Add multi-sensory elements: Include sound effects and/or gentle vibrations during the appearance of different marine species to create a more immersive experience. This adds multi-sensory stimulation, which can be beneficial for cognitive stimulation.
Use different video segments: Instead of a continuous video loop, use segmented clips of various underwater scenes. This provides more diversity in marine species and environments, keeping the exercise fresh and engaging.
Encourage discussion: After each session or during breaks, facilitate discussions about marine life, conservation efforts, or personal experiences related to the ocean. This promotes social interaction and enriches the overall experience.
Therapist involvement: Have the therapist actively engage in the activity by giving directions or discussing marine species. This involvement creates a positive and inclusive atmosphere within the group.
