Encourage mindfulness and relaxation:
At the beginning or end of the exercise, include a brief mindfulness or relaxation component. This helps participants relax their eyes and mind.
Instructions for gaze direction:
The participants are asked to sit still and look straight ahead. Specify a particular point or target within their visual field where they should direct their gaze during the exercise.
Guided painting technique:
Using the trackpad, they are asked to paint the entire space in their visual field. For example, have participants follow a specific pattern, such as horizontal or vertical sweeps, or create a spiral starting from the center and moving outward.
Gradual progression of complexity:
Over the series of sessions, gradually increase the complexity of the exercise. This can be achieved by increasing the painting speed or making the drawings they have to make more complex.
Incorporate therapist guidance:
During the exercise, the therapist can provide feedback and guidance to participants. They can offer encouragement, suggest improvements to painting techniques, or help participants identify areas in their visual field that need more attention.
Improve the coordination between eye and hand movements
Promote compensation strategies to improve functional vision
Attention and concentration
Motivates patients to actively explore the visual field
