6 - Trace the snake

Associated contents

  • Apps -> Interact -> Snake (interactive application)

Required Equipment

    • Large post-it notes or paper sheets with letters (A, B, C, ...) and numbers (1, 2, 3, ...) written on them.

    • Application configured to feature a bright colored background.

    • A trackpad or mouse to control the movement of the snake on the screen.

Procedure

  1. Setup:

    1. Before starting the exercise, place the large post-it notes or paper sheets with different letters and numbers on the walls around the room. Make sure they are easily visible and accessible. Spread them out to ensure a good level of difficulty during the activity.

    2. Configure the application on the computer or device to display a bright colored background. This will help focus participants' attention on the screen.

    3. Gather the participants and explain the rules of the activity.

  2. Instructions:

    1. The therapist will call out a letter or a number randomly.

    2. Participants will use the trackpad on their device to control the head of the snake and move it towards the called-out letter or number.

    3. Encourage participants to trace the snake's body along the walls to reach the target. They should avoid colliding with the walls or the snake's own body.

    4. Each participant can take turns controlling the snake and moving it towards the called-out target.

    5. Continue the activity for a set duration or until all participants have had a chance to control the snake multiple times.

    6. After the activity, facilitate a discussion to reflect on the experience. Ask participants about their coordination, concentration, and any strategies they used to navigate the snake towards the targets.
